Say hello to the city’s newest addition to the poetic art scene! Tintero Projects proudly presents something for “la communidad” – a hybrid reading /workshop series that focuses on supporting emerging Latino writers in the Houston - Galveston area. The most important feature is that this is BILINGUAL; Spanish, English, Spanglish – all are welcome. In the proud tradition of the former Nuestra Palabra Literary Showcase, Tintero Projects plans to fill the void and build the voice of bilingual poets and other poets of color in the city who need a place to read, a place to express and a place to explore writing.

Latino Writers Having Their Say
Nuestra Palabra: Latino Writers Having Their Say was founded in Houston in April of 1998 by writer Tony Diaz. The misson of Nuestra Palabra is to promote Latino literature and literacy.
Nuestra Palabra began with monthly showcases and has grown into a grass roots movement that has changed the world. NP strives to cultivate and promote talent from our community alongside literary icons. NP is the base of the pyramid for such projects as The Latino Book and Family Festival, The Nuestra Palabra Radio Show, the Librotraficante Movement, MAS Texas and more.
Librotraficante Movement
Originally created as physical response to Arizona's HB 2281 - affectively ending the Mexian-American Studies Program in 2011 - Nuestra Palabra: Latino Writers Having Their Say organized a three state, 6 city caravan in the Spring of 2012 delivering over 1.000 books ($20,000 worth of texts) back into the hand of the Tucson, AZ students directly affected by TUSD's decision to close down the MAS program.
Currently, Nuestra Palabra continues the movement by supporting "banned" authors and establishing an Underground Library in major cities across the U.S.
The latest Underground library has found homes in San Francisco, Oakland, CA and Louisville, KY.
